10th Annual Geology Festival – Centennial Event

July 15 & 16, 2016

BRYCE, UT – Bryce Canyon National Park invites you to join them for the 10th Annual Geology Festival July 15-16, 2016.  This year’s theme is “Exploring the Eocene Epoch: Dawn of Modern Mammals”, which is the time when the rocks of Bryce Canyon were forming.  Join guest speaker, Dr. L. Greer Price of the New Mexico Geological Survey as he presents “Earth Sciences for the 21st Century: Where we’ve been and where we’re going”.  Please join us for two days of fun family activities learning about geology of Utah’s public lands and how Bryce Canyon National Park was formed and why it is not a ‘real canyon’.

Enjoy guided hikes, geology presentations and demonstrations, children activities, and rock and fossil displays.  The Visitor Center is open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with activities on the patio from 9 to 3:00 p.m. daily.  The evening program at the Bryce Canyon Lodge Auditorium will begin at 7:00 p.m., with a preshow showcasing the 59 national parks.

We extend a special thanks to our many partners for participating in this centennial event. For a complete schedule of the daily events, go to the park website at http://www.nps.gov/brca/geofest.htm, and download the Geology Festival brochure, or call 435-834-5322.  Brochures will also be available each day at the Visitor Center and Shuttle Stations located in Bryce Canyon City.
