SaltCON Bryce

🎲 SaltCON Bryce: A Winter Gaming Getaway in Bryce Canyon City

Every January, board game enthusiasts, RPG fans, and tabletop adventurers from across Utah and beyond gather in Bryce Canyon City, Utah for one of the most unique seasonal gaming events in the state — SaltCON Bryce. Whether you’re a seasoned convention attendee or new to the hobby, SaltCON Bryce offers a welcoming atmosphere filled with fun, games, and community spirit.

🌟 What Is SaltCON Bryce?

SaltCON Bryce is part of the larger SaltCON family of board game and role‑playing game conventions hosted by SaltCON UT LLC, known for creating engaging, inclusive gaming events throughout the year. While the main SaltCON in Layton attracts thousands of gamers, the Bryce iteration brings the hobby to a more intimate winter setting near Bryce Canyon National Park.

This event typically takes place over a weekend in mid‑January, with recent dates like January 16–18, 2026 (and previous years in mid‑January as well).

📍 Location & Venue

The convention is held at Ruby’s Inn in Bryce Canyon City — a cozy and convenient base just minutes from the breathtaking red‑rock landscapes of Bryce Canyon National Park. It’s a perfect combination: intense gaming indoors and stunning outdoor scenery right outside your door.

🎉 What to Expect

Whether you’re going solo or with friends, SaltCON Bryce is designed to be super engaging for players of all experience levels:

🃏 Game Library & Open Gaming
A staple of SaltCON events is the open game library and free‑play areas where you can discover and play a wide variety of board games — from strategy titles to party favorites. While the library at Bryce events is sometimes smaller than the larger SaltCON in Layton, there’s still plenty to explore and enjoy.

🎲 Play to Win & Scheduled Events
Participate in Play to Win events sponsored by game publishers where you can learn new games and even win prizes. There are also scheduled games, tournaments, and opportunities to try out demo events.

🛍️ Gamers’ Marketplace
Typical SaltCON conventions bring a “game swap” or flea market vibe where attendees can buy, sell, or trade games with others — perfect for collectors or anyone looking to refresh their game shelf.

👫 Friendly Community
One of the things attendees most love about SaltCON events is the friendly, welcoming community — it’s easy to join a game at an open table, grab a “players wanted” sign, and make new friends over your favorite hobby.

📅 Practical Tips

• Badges — Required for anyone age 6 and older who accesses the gaming area. Recent events have sold out, so make sure to sign up early and consider joining the waitlist if it’s full.

• Schedule — The convention typically runs from Friday through Sunday, with game library hours stretching into the late night or even midnight so you can play ‘til you drop.

• Stay & Play — Ruby’s Inn and neighboring hotels often offer group rates for attendees — a great way to make a weekend out of it with scenic hikes and local exploration between gaming sessions.
